Weight Gain  and Fluctuations

Igot to wondering what ‘normal’ weight is. I remember my Dad telling me years ago, that our bodies have a comfortable range. If you essentially eat right and stay relatively active, your weight will fluctuate in that range.

The range of comfort for you, will very likely be different for me and everyone else.

That theory has worked for me over the years. I’ve not been too restrictive with my diet - I eat what I like. Having said that, my portion sizes are small, I eat slowly and you’d really have to twist my arm to eat any quantity of processed food, junk food, sugary sweets, fizzy drinks or even alcohol. I don’t force myself NOT to eat it, it’s just not my thing.
But still, sometimes I hop on the scale and think: ‘what the...?’ If I happen to be way down on that weight range, I’m happy all day. If I’m up, I feel completely defeated.

So I did a bit of research and ‘normal weight’ can fluctuate by as much as 3kg (that’s 6lbs) each day! Are you kidding me! 😳

A lot of it has to do with fluid retention, and the best way to avoid that scenario is to reduce the salt (heaps of it in processed foods) and everyone’s favourite... carbs! Bah!

So yes, I try to avoid carbs, but sometimes I just need some bow tie pasta with pesto - yummmo! I’ll take those 3kg and deal with them tomorrow!

A SMALL INTRODUCTION. I left Canada to marry a wonderful Aussie man and was just settling into motherhood when he suffered a stroke from a bad neck manipulation.
